Sound Horizon -Moira-

Hi there!

Today is Halloween! Although i'm not going to do anything special i will take advantage of this day to talk a little bit of one of my favourite bands, Sound Horizon. This Japanese group is completely different from any other you might now. Their music mixes lots of styles: from rock, to heavy metal, classic, opera etc. Revo, the composer and boss of the band doesn't write conventional songs but rather different pieces that tell a whole story. So his works resemble little musicals. The best example of this could be his last work, Moira. Moira is a musical based on ancient Greek tragedies. We can notice the Homeric influence along the play.
The play is named after Moira, the Greek goddess of Destiny, who tells the story of twins Elef and Misia who are sold as slaves after their parents are killed by a soldier from the city of Illion. Then the story is divided telling the life of the twins until they grow up and how the events leads them in the end to war against Arcadia. During the play we find constant reference to Gods and characters from ancient Greek mithology.
the quality of their music can be only compared with the quality of their live representation which improved especially since their last Story CD "Roman". Their concerts have the quality of any Brodway musical.
