Final Fantasy XIII ending theme "My Hands" by Leona Lewis.

Hi Everybody!

One of my resolutions for new year was to work on more on my blog so let's start achieving this goal. I will talk about one of my favourite and most well-known videogame sagas, Final Fantasy. Since the 8th instalment Square-Enix began to include vocal songs as ending themes or insert songs. Normally it was a Japanese singer the one who perfomed the same song both in Japanese and in English for the Western version. However this trend has changed in the next instalment, Final Fantasy XIII. For this special occassion, Square-Enix has chosen Leona Lewis to perform the ending theme called "My Hands", from her second album "Echo"
Leona Lewis is a well-known singer and has worked recently in the film "Avatar" singing the ending theme "I see you".

I'd normally rather the japanese versions more than the english ones but in this case I must admit this is a very beautiful song and according to the trailer, it looks to match perfectly the new story. However poor Leona has already some detractors who think this is just a marketing strategy.

Well, judge by yourself. Leona Lewis everybody!

Besides this song is so beautiful that reminds me of someone very special so this song is for Milady (I hope you like it haha)

Sound Horizon -Moira-

Hi there!

Today is Halloween! Although i'm not going to do anything special i will take advantage of this day to talk a little bit of one of my favourite bands, Sound Horizon. This Japanese group is completely different from any other you might now. Their music mixes lots of styles: from rock, to heavy metal, classic, opera etc. Revo, the composer and boss of the band doesn't write conventional songs but rather different pieces that tell a whole story. So his works resemble little musicals. The best example of this could be his last work, Moira. Moira is a musical based on ancient Greek tragedies. We can notice the Homeric influence along the play.
The play is named after Moira, the Greek goddess of Destiny, who tells the story of twins Elef and Misia who are sold as slaves after their parents are killed by a soldier from the city of Illion. Then the story is divided telling the life of the twins until they grow up and how the events leads them in the end to war against Arcadia. During the play we find constant reference to Gods and characters from ancient Greek mithology.
the quality of their music can be only compared with the quality of their live representation which improved especially since their last Story CD "Roman". Their concerts have the quality of any Brodway musical.
Here you are, the video of the first song from Moira live called Tanathos. I think this one fits perfectly today's Halloween atmosphere haha. I hope you enjoy it.

(lyrics in English beneath the video)

TANATHOS LIVE VERSION.

Chronos, the vertical bearer of time–
Bios, the horizontal flame of life–
The weaver of the universe uses both strings… If this is the reason we call it destiny……
Thanatos–
The lord of Hades and the dead man’s king
The living are terrified by the real god of death
yes… i am death itself
he loves her just as much as he loves him
the kings and the slaves, the saints and the prostitutes, he gives them his impartial lovehe loves you, the living, just as much as he loves us, the dead
the old and the young, the poets and the heroes, they shall all fall equally
mother… if you continue to bring forth life, then…

Thanatos–
will continue to seize away all the living
by killing them

“Welcome to Hades!”

you died, you simply died
you died, you simply died
for no reason you arrived here, toyed by the hands of fate
you died, you simply died
i shall go and greet the unfortunate princess, i shall go and greet the blood-stained bride
he whose eyes carry death is my vessel
the night the mother is murdered i shall go and greet her, and two will become one
[The everlasting silence of Thanatos... His stare conveys death]
someday you will learn
that nothing in the world is fair except for him, Thanatos
in a place ruled by the ruthless goddesses
nothing in the world is fair except for him, Thanatos
sooner or later, the inevitable separation
yes… i am Thanatos
mother… if you continue to bring forth life
and afflict suffering upon the frightened children, then…
Thanatos–
will continue to grant salvation to all the living
by killing them

"Deep Storm" by Lincoln Child

Hi there!

This is my first official post and I though it would be a good chance to talk about a book I've just read.

Last week, I decided to go to the library before going to class. The thing is that I forgot that I need a lot of time when i go to one because i want to check till the very last book. I had picked two of them (and the class was about to start in 10 minutes) when I came across with "Deep Storm" It's plot called my attention but I really wanted those other 2 books. So in the end I decided to bought the 3 of them, even if that represented to make bigger the black whole that is my wallet.
Now I have finshed it, I can't say it was a very good choice.
"Deep Storm" is a nice combination of Techno-Thriller, mistery and Sci-Fi that keeps you stuch to its pages like Steven Spielberg to one of his films.

The story starts when Dr.Crane is called to an oil platform in order to investigate the weird simptoms of some of the workers. However the platform is just a cover for a bigger project, the access gate to the Complex: The most advanced scientific facility located Km underwater and protected by a big dome. The mission of this facility is to dug into the sea bed in order to get to the continental crust and find the technological remains of the ancient Atlantis civilization.
However Crane notices that there's something more lying beneath the crust and that "something" will be the beginning of his worst nightmares.

Lincoln Child inmerses us in an interesting and thrilling story that, thanks to his talent, we can imagine till the last detail of they high-technological Complex (sometimes you can even feel the same fear of working under miles of water pressure). Fluently narrated and with some unexpected plot twists, the book can keep us reading for hours because we, the same as doctor Crane, also want to know the secret buried in the depths of our planet.

If you like Michael Crichton or Clive Cussler's books (who gave a very positive review of this book) you will enjoy it. If you have read it, feel free to post your opinion.

See you!
